For your team on the road, it removes the need to type addresses into their phone. They just click one button to navigate and another to write their completion notes.

Prerequisites and Initial Setup

Before your team can start using the live tracking and map features, you need to make sure basic location settings are ready.

• Create Users:
  • Make sure all your mobile staff have active Odoo user accounts.
• Assign Roles:
  • Go to the Odoo Settings and give your planner the Manager role and your mobile staff the Worker role.
• Check Addresses:
  • Make sure your customers and leads have full addresses including city and zip code so the map can find them.
• Enable Location Services:
  • Staff must allow location tracking on their mobile browser when they open the route tracker for the first time.
• Live GPS Location:
  • If allowed by the browser, the mobile tracker updates the live location of the worker so the back office knows exactly where they are during their shift.

Notes

This tool requires an active internet connection for the mobile worker to open Google Maps and save their notes back to Odoo. It does not automatically calculate the absolute shortest path between fifty random stops, but you can use the preview map feature to visually arrange and sequence the locations in the exact order you want them completed.
